WHAT IS A MINI PILED FOUNDATION?

A mini piled foundation is used when solid ground can not be found at a reasonable depth, We then use piling method to get down to solid ground transferring the weight of the PILED FOUNDATION through different levels of strata.

Or Mini piling is also used in clay conditions due to ground movement ( SHRINKAGE AND EXPANSION )Also known as HEAVE, Piles are either drilled down to bedrock if found at a reasonable depth or if bedrock cannot be found then our ENGINEER creates a pile design where your ground conditions are taken into consideration and your pile loadings are then calculated into pile friction.

This is called a pile design, and it is our aim to give you a cost-effective solution to your piled foundation.

MINI/ MICRO AUGURED PILING ( SFA) SEGMENTAL FLIGHT AUGER

Mini/Micro Segmental piling is used for restricted access on domestic sites. Using these methods, we use rigs with a range of 2-5 Tons capable of gaining access through your doors or restricted spaces, with capability’s of piles up to 450mm in diameter with maximum 16 Meter depths. Augers come in various diameters 1-1.5m section, and can be installed manually. This method is usually best for chalk or London clay. During this method, borehole needs to stay formed and open. We call this an open bored pile.

STEEL CASE DRIVEN PILING / DROP HAMMER

This method is used by our piling contractors when the ground conditions will not hold up or made ground. In this case a steel casing is hammered into the ground most commonly using a 500Kg weight which is lifted then allowed to free fall to drive the pile into the ground. The casings are then welded on site to the driven pile and then driven again repeating the process until the pile hits refusal. This method of piling is more time consuming then augured piling and can be disruptive to neighbours in a residential area due to the thumping sound it creates. The only other method of piling to use in made and loose ground is GROUT INJECTING AUGURING SFA.

SFA CONCRETE / GROUT INJECTION PILING

This MINI SFA segmental piling process is ideal for restricted site access and headroom. For this process we use a 3 Ton piling rig which can drill piles from 150mm to 450mm in diameter, with depths up to 15m,Our 15 ton piling machines which are capable to drills from 300mm up to 600mm diameter down to 17m. Augers are 1m to 2m sections, and these are installed manually metre by metre.

CONTIGUOUS PILED RETAINING WALLS USING MINI PILING

Using Mini piling for contiguous piled walls can be very useful in situations including ( BASEMENTS, GARDEN WALL RETAINMENT, REDUCE DIGGING OF LEVELS IN GARDENS) . A contiguous piled wall is where our piling contractors use a hit and miss method as where you will drill a pile then miss a pile and concrete then drill out the piles you have missed creating a wall off piles to retain soil/ ground. We can normally reduce dig ground up 4 meters with these piling techniques. The piles are then all joined together using a capping beam which can then be built on.
